After college, I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for 18 years, with my first husband. When he passed away suddenly in 1995, I moved to Marco Island, Florida, to be closer to my parents, who had retired there. I lived on Marco full time for nearly 8 years - met my husband "Chip" there in 1997 - and now we live in Venice, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico, about 1.5 hours north of Marco Island, and 20 minutes south of Sarasota. We feel lucky to be able to live near the beach, and enjoy collecting shells and shark's teeth, watching sunsets, riding bikes - and our Wolff Scooters - hiking, road trips to visit museums, go antiquing, and check out other Florida beaches, concerts, trying new restaurants, and quiet nights at home, just the two of us. Since we retired in 2021 we have discovered many creative outlets, including decorating shells, with beads and old jewelry, and leaving them at the beach for others to find. Chip polishes stones and makes beautiful things out of them, too, that we give to people we love. My mom lives a block away from us, and we feel so lucky to include her in our lives, and escapades, every day. My brother, Cary, lives in Venice, too, and my sister Terese is in St. Augustine. My brother Dan has a vacation home here - he loves Venice as much as we do. We enjoy all our friends and family who frequently visit from the North - particularly in the Winter. We love to travel - Chip is very brave and I am game for anything. We've been in Venice 19 years now and it's paradise.
